EARLY PROJECTS
Time has proven the reliability and safety of our work. All the mechanisms and installations we developed many years ago for the well-known theaters and theme park attractions are still functioning exactly as intended, providing safe, uninterrupted service. The following are but a few examples:
The Metropolitan Opera in New York City
At left, the 60-ft diameter turntable combined with stage wagon permits simultaneous rotation and horizontal travel. It is designed for fast scenic changes and for creating special effects. At right, a synchronous fail safe hoist system raises the chandeliers before every performance to clear the sight lines. Both systems have been in operation since late 1960's. Juilliard School of Music, Lincoln Center, NYC
A space frame supported sound reflective ceiling, spanning 92 feet, covers more than half the auditorium at the Juilliard Theater. The shell, including platforms and light bridges, weighs more than 120 tons. It can be adjusted and locked to the building at three positions within its vertical travel to change the acoustical characteristics of the room. The ceiling is supported by four self-locking jackscrews, powered by two electrically synchronized 40 HP motors. The controls include failsafe leveling devices.
